Adult education

For young people who have reached the age of 16, there is also an offer of general adult education, which allows them to complete studies or the necessary prerequisites for a career plan. These services include educational support, literacy, social and socio-professional integration, francization, preparation for vocational training and post-secondary studies.

  • Educational support.
  • Literacy.
  • Pre-secondary.
  • First cycle of secondary.
  • Second cycle of secondary.
  • Social integration.
  • Socio-professional integration.
  • Francization.
  • Preparation for vocational training.
  • Preparation for post-secondary studies.

Common Core Basic Education

This program brings together the 13 study programs of the first phase of general adult education.

These study programs are made up of courses spread over three levels:

  • literacy.
  • pre-secondary.
  • Cycle 1 secondary studies (Secondary 1 and 2).

It should be noted that the socio-professional integration programs (semi-skilled and non-specialized trades), francization and social integration are not part of common core basic education. However, they are paths that can lead to it, depending on the adult’s educational needs.

Diversified Basic Education

The Diversified Basic Education Program is an adapted version of the Quebec Education Program for adults, and concerns:

  • Secondary Cycle 2 (Secondary 3, 4 and 5). These courses also cover education services for vocational training and preparation for post-secondary studies.

The goal of the sociovocational integration service is to provide adults with the means to develop their employability, enter the labor market and facilitate job retention. This service also offers the prospect of pursuing adult education studies.

It can lead to the acquisition of the Training Certificate in the Sociovocational Integration of Adults (CFISA) or the Training certificate for a Semiskilled trade (TCST).

This program is the result of collaboration with Quebec school boards and service centres and aims to meet the educational needs of adults with psychological, intellectual, social or physical challenges.

The services allow for personal development, encouraging learning and skills acquisition, and if necessary, the pursuit of studies to optimize the individual’s functional skills called upon in daily life.

Social integration is directly linked to the personal, social, educational and career spheres. Through their support and accompaniment, external partners facilitate the completion of the adult education process and the transfer of the student’s learning to their home environments.
